Art + Beer, Beer + Art, big sky brewing co., Evil Dead Red, grand teton brewing co., katie scott, kinsee morlan, san diego citybeat, tour de fat, Wake-up Call Coffee Imperial Porter

I won’t be posting all events, and just because an event isn’t listed doesn’t mean it isn’t worth going to. I’ll just pick one or two a day. I try to keep the Events Calendar up to date, so check it for the full list of things going on around down. If you know of a beer event that isn’t listed send me an email, events@sandiegobeerblog.com

Instead of posting a weeks worth of events at once, I’ll be posting the weekend events on Wednesday night or Thursday and then posting on Sunday or Monday if there’s anything noteworthy going on Monday-Wednesday of a given week.

Thursday, Sept. 29th, 2011:

Beer + ArtGetting a little self promotional here, my wife (San Diego CityBeat Arts and Culture editor Kinsee Morlan) and I have partnered up to put on an art show and beer tasting at Bottlecraft. From 7-10pm the artist Katie Scott will be on hand with plenty of her work showing. There will be three different flights available for purchase as well as all the rest of the great beer at Bottlecraft. More info here.

Friday, Sept. 30th, 2011:

It’s 30th on 30th and there are a couple great casks getting tapped Friday night. AleSmith Evil Dead Red will be at Ritual Tavern and Hamilton’s Tavern will have Grand Teton Wake-up Call Coffee Imperial Porter as well as plenty of other great Grand Teton and Big Sky Brewing beers on draft.

Saturday, Oct. 1st, 2011:

Grab your bike and head down to Golden Hill Park (technically part of Balboa Park but nowhere near where it was held last year) for New Belgium Brewing Co.’s Tour de Fat. The bike parade starts at 11am and other entertainment will run throughout the rest of the day.

3 Philosphers, Abbey, bellhaven brewery, BPA, brewery ommegang, grand teton brewing co., Hennepin, old guardian barleywine, pop up beer dinner, pop up restaurant, Rare Vos, relate, Scottish Ale, Scottish Stout, stone total tap takeover, stone winter storm, Twisted Thistle, wit

If you know of anything that isn’t on the events calendar, please email events@sandiegobeerblog.com to get it added.

Thursday, Feb 3rd:

The folks at Taphunter have teamed up with the pop-up restaurant Relate to host a beer dinner featuring AleSmith and Green Flash. Chef Dan Moody’s food will pair with excellent beer from the two breweries. Dinner is $55+ the cost of the beer flight. Last I checked tickets were selling fast and might already be sold out, but if you’re interested in going check to see if they can still get you a seat.

Friday Feb 4th:

I’m not too familiar with Idaho based Grand Teton Brewing Co., but I have faith in the beers that Scot Blair and the folks at Hamilton’s Tavern bring to town, so I have no problem recommending Firkin Friday with Grand Teton Brewing Co. at Hamilton’s Friday afternoon. On cask will be Pursuit of Hoppiness Imperial Red Ale and they’ll have plenty of GTBC beers on draft as well.

Saturday Feb 5th:

Small Bar is hosting another Beer for Breakfast, this time with Brewery Ommegang. They’ll have BPA, Hennepin, 3 Philosphers, Abbey, Rare Vos and Wit on tap to go along with Southern style shrimp and cheesey Grits, Eggs and Beignets.

Last time I went to brunch at Small Bar I stayed until about 2pm drinking delicious beer then went home and slept for about five hours. If you’re anything like me drink that hangover off by getting a growler fill of Stone Brewing Co.’s 2009 Old Guardian Barley Wine. Aged 2 years it should be good and smooth with much of the heat of the alcohol gone. This is the special Saturday Night Special fill only happening from 8-10pm Saturday night.

Sunday Feb 6th:

Stone Winter Storm kicks off on Super Bowl Sunday. They’re doing things early enough for you to get a few tasters before heading off to watch the game, or you can skip the game all together, just make sure you have a ride home. The Calm Before the Storm starts at 9am with breakfast burritos, ten 4oz tasters and a chance to get some beers before they open up for the day. The Calm Before the Storm will set you back about $39 so if you’re planning on having close to ten tasters, I’d say it’s well worth it.

If breakfast isn’t your thing head down anytime after 11am. All the taps at the Stone Bistro will be dedicated to Stone Brewing Co. beers with plenty of rare and vintage beers. They’ll also have a ton of bottles available as well. When one keg kicks they’ll add something else.

Monday Feb 7th:

Monday night means it’s pint night. Stop into Toronado from 6pm-Close for $3 local pints or Eleven from 5pm-Close where all their draft beers are $3 on Mondays.

Tuesday Feb 8th:

Know of a great beer event happening? Email events@sandiegobeerblog.com

Wednesday Feb 9th:

Didn’t get enough cheap pints Monday night? KNB Wine Cellars does $3 drafts all day Wednesday. They exclude a few of the fancy beers, but I’m sure you can find something in there to drink for $3.

Need a new beer glass? Small Bar is doing a keep the glass night with Bellhaven Brewery, Scotland’s oldest brewery. They’ll have Twisted Thistle, Scottish Stout and Scottish Ale on tap for $6 with the glass and $3.75 refills.
